Appearing at the Hideaway for the first time, the South London Jazz Orchestra bring you an evening of swing, jazz and Latin tunes harking back to the golden era of Big Band and featuring Georgie Fellows on vocals.

Often billed as the world’s largest regularly performing big band, tonight the SLJO are shrinking down to a full 17-piece line up for a one-off performance as part of their Mini-SLJO series. Based in Brixton, the band regularly performs right across the capital, counting The Ivy House in Nunhead, Bulls Head at Barnes, the Ealing Jazz Festival, the 100 Club, and Dulwich, Sydenham and Wandsworth Arts Festivals among previous top gigs.

The SLJO often provides the tunes for the London Swing Dance Society, performing a repertoire of swing classics including Glenn Miller, Count Basie and Stan Kenton, alongside more modern uptempo charts by Gordon Goodwin, Jim Martin and Buddy Rich.

The band also travels extensively, having performed at the Stockholm, Montreux and Edinburgh Fringe Festivals.

Georgie Fellows

Georgie Fellows has been singing professionally for over 15 years. Based in London, and working with some of the finest musicians in the UK, she now performs at jazz venues, private parties and corporate functions all over the country.

With an infectious personality and a sparkling yet sophisticated quality to her voice she tackles the likes of big band, cabaret, swing and jazz with ease.

From a theatrical family, Georgie spent her childhood flitting between dressing rooms,  rehearsal rooms and recording studios. Her father, the actor, Don Fellows, as a young man played double bass in jazz bands in New York so from an early age Georgie was surrounded and influenced by the sounds of jazz and early musical theatre better known today as the Great American Songbook.

Georgie trained in Musical Theatre at Laine Theatre Arts. She has appeared in numerous theatre and musical productions including a No1 UK tour and appearing in London's West End in Whistle Down The Wind at the Palace Theatre.
