The Jesús Cutiño Band presents Havana Jam
Cuban troubadour Jesús Cutiño continues his journey through the rich musical history of his native island with this special 40th anniversary celebration of the unique Havana Jam music festival. Join Jesús and his full band as he celebrates this legendary event.
In 1979, as the American and Cuban governments tried to ease diplomatic pressure between the two countries, the Columbia and Fania record labels co-sponsored Havana Jam, a three-day music festival with the sole purpose of putting music before politics.
As well as headline performances from Weather Report, Jaco Pastorius, Fania All-Stars and Billy Joel, the festival featured a staggering line up of Cuban artists including Irakere, Pacho Alonso, Orquesta de Santiago de Cuba, Juan Pablo Torres and more.
An acclaimed guitarist, Jesús moved to London from Havana in 1998 and quickly found himself at the heart of a vibrant Latin musical movement. He joined Ska Cubano in 2004 and has performed on major festival stages across the world.
The passion for the music of his native island still burns as strongly as ever and Jesús leads his nine-piece band from the front as they deliver stunning authenticity and musical vitality.
