“The anatomy of the groove is still very much intact with J-Sonics. Their brand of rocket fuelled groove jazz has the after burners full on. It's clear to see these guys have a great empathy and enjoy their craft, breaking sweat with broad smiles. It's great to see. Respect to the groove merchants, here to take back jazz from the shoe gazers.” – Chris Philips Jazz FM

"These guys are truly on a mission to bring raw, razor-edged funk to British audiences." Young & Serious

Led by bassist and composer Mike Flynn J-Sonics features some of London's finest musicians - all solo artists in their own right - but all collaborating within J-Sonics' dynamite mix of burning originals and re-tooled Latin, Brazilian and funk classics. The line-up features a powerful twin-horn attack of saxophonist Matt Telfer and trumpeter Andy Davies, alongside the explosive rhythm section of guitarist/composer Clement Regert, drummer Gabor Dornyei and powerful percussionist Jon Newey.

With a wide range of collective experience J-Sonics' band members are all hugely respected musicians both as in-demand sidemen and acclaimed solo artists and have worked with numerous leading musicians. Rising star Hungarian drummer Dornyei is an internationally recognised clinician for Sonor drums and also tours widely with his own Thunder Duo group, while he's also made several world tours with the Michael Jackson Thriller Live! and Rock Of Ages shows. Trumpeter Davies' renowned weekly jam session Upstairs at Ronnie Scott's and his own groups Simian's of Swing and Bop Shop, and Telfer's weekly Yanagisawa Pizza Express Jam nights (every Friday) have put them at the heart of the London jazz scene. Guitarist Regert's countless sessions and gigs with the likes of Liane Carroll, Dennis Rollins and Quentin Collins along with his critically acclaimed Wild Card group sees him working with some of the UK's finest musicians. Bassist Mike Flynn has worked with many jazz, world, funk and rock musicians, while he's recently released an album on Babel records with singer Paula Rae Gibson as well as his own solo projects. Percussionist Jon Newey was a founding member of England's Glory, Crew and South London jazz funk legends Jabba. He and Mike are also the award-winning editorial team behind the UK's biggest selling jazz monthly, Jazzwise magazine.

Wowing audiences with their full-throttle grooves, searing solos and infectious interaction, J-Sonics rip it up on hip hop, funk, swing and Latin-jazz grooves, while the trumpet, sax and guitar frontline are pushed to exciting musical highs. This is a band that thrives on heat of the moment improvisation, killer tunes and boundless energy.
