Drummer, producer and founder of NRR Music Tansay Omar brings his live project FUNKSHY to debut at Hideaway, with the stunning vocals of Debbralee Wells and the powerful soul voice of Derane (Living Sounds).

Funkshy have honed an eclectic, multi-layered sound that fuses Funk, Dub, World, Reggae, Soul. Chilled out soul with a funky skip, a peppering of blues, Eastern and reggae influences creating a whole new kind of groovy rhythmic London funk.

The ‘live’ format is a 6 piece band, fronted by two vocalists and includes some of London’s finest musicians, led by drummer/producer Tansay Omar, a professional drummer who has worked with internationally renowned artists such as Bjork, Boy George, Jackie Graham, Gwen McCrae, Lisa Stansfield, Galliano, D*Note, Roots Manuva, Smoke City to name but a few. He set up his own label NRR Music in 2004 whose debut release was Panoramic Vision of Rhythm by the World Rhythm Poets. For the last three years, Tansay has played and recorded with artists such as Lokkhi Terra, Victor Menace and Djanan Turan. He is influenced by a wide palette of music that emerges in the music he plays and produces.

Debbralee Wells, vocals: a passionate singer with a stunning voice and great stage presence. After training at the Cockpit Youth Theatre and studying Musical Theatre at City Lit., she has gone on to appear in major productions including Cinderella, Fame the Musical (UK Tour), Buddy – The Buddy Holly Story (UK Tour), as well as numerous prime time TV shows.

Living Sounds (Derane), Vocals/Guitar: Singer songwriter Derane is one of London’s finest Funk Soul Gospel and African influenced vocalists, as well as a promoter, compere and frontman of his own successful jam nights around London. Derane is constantly encouraging and promoting new talent wherever and whenever possible.
