Tony Kofi Quartet Present An Homage to Ornette Coleman
UK sax virtuoso Tony Kofi leads and all-star quartet in homage to one of the true jazz greats - Ornette Coleman.
In 2010 by Ornette Coleman's former Prime Time bass player, Jamaaladeen Tacuma, asked Tony Kofi to go to New York to record on his new album 'For The Love of Ornette' which featured the great man himself. The project inspired Tony to put together this collective of world-class musicians who have all been touched by the music of this remarkable jazz legend.
Expect to hear all the classic compositions from ‘The Shape Of Jazz To Come’, ‘This Is Our Music’, ‘Something Else’, ‘Tomorrow Is the Question’ and ‘Beauty Is A Rare Thing’.
"Tony Kofi’s full-bodied sound, clear articulation and committed attack carry the immediacy and impact of the established masters of the jazz saxophone." Financial Times
