TESTIMONIALS FROM PERFORMERS AND CUSTOMERS

I’m telling everyone, really, Hideaway is THE joint... everyone needs to come down here, it’s the place to be!

Mica Paris - The UK's Soul Queen

It was great to return to Hideaway on Friday. I thought Tony O’Malley performed really well and seeing him, Neil Hubbard, Frank Collins and Dyan Birch together on stage evoked memories of watching Kokomo in the 70s! As always the food, the sound and the service were all fantastic. We are back in a fortnight and looking forward to it! We are off to the Jazz Cafe tonight, a nice venue but I prefer Hideaway!

John, SW16

Everyone was amazed at how lovely this venue was, the seductive atmosphere, the food was first class, the live music was ‘outstanding’ the service was professional, in fact the whole ambiance of the restaurant was amazing and it’s in South London!! Sorry to say but we would not get this kind of service at Ronnie Scotts or Jazz Café!! Thanks again and we’ll be back for more.

Dawn (on the Soul Purpose/Teena Marie gig)

Love this club! Always have a great time at Hideaway, one of our favourite clubs... see you down there!

Barnaby Dickinson - The London Horns

Hideaway is a real gem - a proper jazz club, with the low lit black & oranges, excellent sound system & beautiful grand piano. You get a sense of occasion when you go there. The food & drinks are excellent, prices reasonable and the location tucked away enough to make you feel you've discovered something illicit, like a buzzing prohibition speakeasy!

Dave O'Higgins - multi-award winning saxophonist

Hideaway... so hip it's almost a pelvis

Simon Whiteside - Kai's Cats

Hideaway has the perfect combination of great music, wonderful people and a brilliant vibe. I think it's definitely one of the most important live music venues to have happened to the UK for a long time - I absolutely love playing here! And the food is pretty amazing too!

Liane Carroll - BBC and Parliamentary Jazz Award Winner

I just played a one-off gig in London with bassist Janek Gwizdala at Hideaway. Very nice piano, nice sound, nice people. Good for them. It's great to see a place on the rise for a change instead of witnessing so many that are closing!

Gary Husband - Level 42 (speaking to Jazzwise)

Hideaway is a brilliant and inspiring addition to the UK live music scene. It is impossible to do a bad gig there. The artists and the punters are treated royally. The cocktails are the dog's [bananas] too. LOVE IT.

Ian Shaw - Two times Winner of Best Singer at the BBC Jazz Awards

Thanks to everybody for making Friday night truly special. It was our 11th time at Hideaway and though the other ten were good this was the best yet. Everything seemed close to perfection. The music - Wayne was phenomenal, as were his musicians. The food was superb, the service was exceptional (a special thanks to the waiting staff who managed to weave their way through the dancers without causing problems). The sound was fantastic, and the audience played their part too! I have been gigging for 40 years and realise that nights like Friday don't come very often.

John (on the Wayne Hernandez gig)

Just wanted to express my thanks to you for a very nice evening. It was lovely to be received so nicely and to be attentively cared for throughout the evening. The staff provided excellent customer service. Hideaway is a lovely music venue and I want to wish you all the very best for the future.

Nigel (on the Julia Biel gig)

Thank you for a lovely evening! Fantastic music, food, and atmosphere - will definitely be coming to Hideaway again soon!

Caroline (on the Tony Kofi gig)

I've really enjoyed the Jazz Workshops this year. Many grateful thanks - the teaching has been excellent. I'd like to come back next time the courses are run so I'll keep an eye on the site!

Richard, Jazz Workshop Student

We have just left your club and have to say we thought it was just fantastic! Really great venue, great show (Wayne Hernandez), love the bar, good food, great staff and what lovely clientele! Met people and chatted at random, as well as being with a group of friends, and it made a truly enjoyable evening.

Hideaway is a real treasure of South London, we live in Norbury and can’t wait to come back.

Thank you for running this superlative gig.

Arthur & Daniella

The food, the decor and the music were all excellent, and just the way to spend a Sunday lunchtime. I wish you every success with your venture, we could do with something like it in Cornwall!
