Sharlene Hector - Vocals

Sharlene Hector is one of the top soul, gospel and blues singers in the UK.
She first came to prominence when she sang backing vocals for the Grammy Award nominated Basement Jaxx on their track 'Good Luck' as well as touring with them. She featured in the worldwide Coca-Cola commercial singing her top hit 'I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel To Be Free'.
Add to this the fact that she has provided backing vocals to talents such as Mary J. Blige, Boy George, Sam Sparro and Natasha Bedingfield her stunning and soulful vocals should not be missed!

 

Vula Malinga

After working with MJ Cole in 2002, penning the top 20 hit “Wondering Why”, Vula quickly became a sought after singer/songwriter, backing vocalist & arranger in the industry. She has lent her talents to many successful pop artists & groups having worked with the likes of Adele, Dizzee Rascal, Beverly Knight, Sam Sparro, Bugs in the Attic, Nate James and others. She is best known for her work with Basement Jaxx with whom she co-wrote & featured on their Top 10 hit single “Oh My Gosh” in the UK singles charts as well their Top 20 hit “Hush Boy”. She is also one half of the electric-soul duo DivaGeek, who independently released their debut album “He Said, She Said” in 2012 to critical acclaim.

Janette Mason is by now a familiar face at Hideaway. She took on the role of resident Musical Director in 2012 and has been producing an eclectic array of shows from Bond to Bowie and Beyond. Her skills as a composer and arranger can be heard on her 2010 Trio CD ‘Alien Left Hand’ which was nominated for a Parliamentary Jazz Award and on the soundtrack to ‘Ruby Blue’ an award winning independent film starring Bob Hoskins. As a keyboard player she has worked with Oasis, Seal,Pulp and Robert Wyatt as well as the cream of the UK’s jazz performers including Clare Martin, Ian Shaw, and Clare Teal.
