It was great to return to Hideaway on Friday. I thought Tony O’Malley performed really well and seeing him, Neil Hubbard, Frank Collins and Dyan Birch together on stage evoked memories of watching Kokomo in the 70s! As always the food, the sound and the service were all fantastic. We are back in a fortnight and looking forward to it! We are off to the Jazz Cafe tonight, a nice venue but I prefer Hideaway!

OLA ONABULE
A songwriter and producer with a memorable voice, Ola began his career in music on Warner Bros “Elektra” label, but his talent ambition led him to establish his own label by the mid 90s. Since then he has since released six albums, assuming duties of writer, producer and arranger on each, with the latest, The Devoured Man, taking him on tour across the UK, Europe Canada and The US.
The press say, “As a vocalist, he possesses a stunning voice of enormous range and emotional clout”. His voice is “beautifully clear and appealingly textured, almost classical …with a range and elasticity to match his rich tonal qualities”. “The influences of Soul, Jazz and the West African music of his childhood come together in subtle and sophisticated melodies and time signatures.”
Ola has guested and/or shared stages with some of America’s finest soul and jazz artists including Diane Reeves, Maceo Parker, Gladys Knight, Al Jarreau, Patti Labelle, Roberta Flack, Joe Zawinul, Natalie Cole, Raul Midon, David Sanborn, Incognito, John McLaughlin, Chick Corea, Randy Newman. and Roy Hargrove. Ola’s music has appeared in films such as N’est Tres Pas Catholique and Second Hand Lions featuring Robert Duvall and Michael Caine.
Tonight he performs with a line-up that has debuted this month, featuring Ugo Delmirani (keyboards), Paul Jones (drums), Nial Tompkins (Guitar), Dave Marks (Bass), Jon Radford (Trumpet) and Duncan Eagles (Tenor Sax)
