Special Event - End of Season Finale

For our final comedy night before a summer break, two of our most popular performers return - Headliner Bob Mills will be performing a 40 minute set, and the wonderful “Loretta Maine” returns to the Hideaway stage too!

Bob Mills

A true elder statesman of British stand-up comedy. The man who bridged the gap between the first wave of “alternative comedy” in the mid-eighties and the new laddism of the early ’90s, Bob Mills is as popular today as when he first strolled on to the comedy circuit in 1985” The Comedy Club website

laddish, everyman charm, the easy confidence of more than two decades in the business” Chortle website

Josh Howie

“Josh is an ex-public schoolboy, raised as a Buddhist who then trained as a Rabbi before being kicked off the programme for being caught with a naked (non-Jewish) girl, so perhaps it was inevitable that he would go on to become a stand-up comedian. Josh integrated these stories into his hugely successful debut solo Fringe stand up show, which played to sell out audiences and received rave reviews at the Edinburgh Festival followed by a sell out run at the Soho Theatre.” Comedy CV website

A young Woody Allen” The Scotsman

Excellent, intelligent stand-up…terrific” Time Out

Intelligently neurotic” Evening Standard

“A very smart and hugely sophisticated writer; pulling the interesting facts from his life, then mixing honesty and wit, and only then garnishing it with punchlines.” Chortle website

Loretta Maine”

Runner-Up, Hackney Empire New Acts 2008
Finalist, Funny Women 2008
Nominee, if.comedy Best Newcomed Award, Edinburgh Fringe 2008

“Character comic Pippa Evans most often performs as scarily intense singer-songwriter Loretta Maine. This wonderfully unbalanced character flips between sweet and psychotic in a chord change, as she delivers beautifully bitter lyrics about the men – and the music business – that have wronged her. The nuanced songs are great on their own, before you even consider some of the truly impressive one-liners between them. These inspired, quotable pearls of wisdom show that fine comic writing underpins her flawless, perfectly timed performance. Her set is subtle enough to be believable, but not too understated to be hilarious. She’s a relative newcomer, but has certainly got the talent for a sustained and stellar career in comedy.” Chortle website

“A spot-on accent and guitar talent allows the Evans as Loretta to pack in the laughs and completely charm the audience, despite the somewhat psychotic subject matter of the songs. Definitely one to catch” Fest

MC - Robin Banks

“Though primarily known as the compere at the Comedy Pit venues he runs in South London, Banks also performs his own act in the guise of a rough diamond ex-con. However, he shuns the expected tough-guy shtick in favour of some airy-fairy surrealism… The discrepancy between image and material produces its fair share of laughs” Chortle website
