Our DIVA show is a Jazz, Soul and R&B extravaganza, featuring the breathtaking talents of Nancy Harms, BBC The Voice's Chris Royal, Sabrina Chyld and Edward Baruwa. Led by Musical Director Janette Mason.
A Singer songwriter born and raised in Manchester, Chris has been singing all his life, being heavily influenced by Soul, Jazz and Gospel. Last year, Chris took part in The Voice UK Series 3 where he made it to the Final 2 on Team Ricky reaching the Semi Finals!
Born and raised in Minnesota, Harms relocated to New York City in 2010. She has toured Europe three times since 2011, with her most recent tour taking her to such prestigious venues as Copenhagen's "Standard", Paris' "New Morning", "Herr" in Oslo, and other stops in Asker, Norway, and Turin, Italy. Her most recent Manhattan appearance was in the famed METROPOLITAN ROOM, where she premiered her brand new show entitled "ELLINGTON AT NIGHT", which author/critic James Gavin described as "elegant, understated... beautifully expressive".
UK based ex Model turned Singer/Songwriter Sabrina Chyld originally established her sound from her early musical background and development of Jazz, Soul and Funk, a fusion that took place over ten years ago. Sabrina Chyld burst onto the Soulful House Music Scene with her sultry smooth vocals, first heard on the Son Liva release, ‘Lets Escape’ produced by Jose Carretas. This diva is currently turning heads amongst respected DJ's & Producers within the House scene as well as creating a buzz worldwide gaining her fans & deserved respect as far as the South Africa, Detroit, & Europe. Her latest projects featuring on two new albums including Jonny Miller's Producer Series Three Album with South African producer Cuebur. Andy Compton on 'Retropect' album, and a few new single releases with Broadcite, Rhemi Music, Paris Cesvette & American based House Singer Robert Walker.
Edward was born in Peterborough and studied at London Guildhall University. He has played leading roles in the West End, notably: Gary Coleman in Avenue Q(Gielgud and Noel Coward theatres); Enjolras in Les Miserables(Queens theatre); Jake in Trevor Nunn's Porgy and Bess(Savoy Theatre) where he also understudied and played the role of Porgy; and Lionel Richie in Dancing in the Streets(Aldwych theatre.) He also appeared in 'Jerry Springer the Opera' (Cambridge Theatre) where he understudied and played the roles of Satan and Jesus. Concert appearances as a soloist include: Andrew Lloyd Webber's 60th birthday in Hyde Park(BBC Radio 2); The Night of 1000 Voices, Seasons of Love and Christmas with the Salvation Army all at The Royal Albert Hall. Janette Mason - Musical Director & Piano
Janette Mason is by now a familiar face at Hideaway. She took on the role of resident Musical Director in 2012 and has been producing an eclectic array of shows from Bond to Bowie and Beyond. Her skills as a composer and arranger can be heard on her 2010 Trio CD ‘Alien Left Hand’ which was nominated for a Parliamentary Jazz Award and on the soundtrack to ‘Ruby Blue’ an award winning independent film starring Bob Hoskins. As a keyboard player she has worked with Oasis, Seal,Pulp and Robert Wyatt as well as the cream of the UK’s jazz performers including Clare Martin, Ian Shaw, and Clare Teal.
