Soneando

The Soneando musicians peeking through Hideaway's keyhole logoSoneando are a 4-8 piece band, playing Salsa and Cuban Son with serious groove. The exciting cultural mix of the band enriches their compositions and arrangements, combining their own modern influences with traditional styles. Led by Salsa pianist Sara McGuinness, the band features top UK based Latin musicians including charismatic Jesus Cutiño on vocals, with the driving rhythm section of Elpidio Caicedo on bass and David Pattman and Bill Bland on percussion.

Sara McGuinness

Piano player Sara McGuinness is well known on both the UK Salsa and Congolese music circuits, having played with many of the top bands. In 2000 she formed Soneando, a Cuban Son quintet, committed to bringing top quality Cuban dance music to a UK audience. In 2004, having worked extensively with Congolese and Latin musicians, she brought together some of the very best musicians from both worlds to form Grupo Lokito. This year Sara has been working in Kinshasa, DRC, performing and recording. She teaches a music course in Havana, Cuba every February with legendary Cuban Son group Sierra Maestra and runs Cuban Big Band Orquesta Estelar in London.

Elpidio Caicedo

As one of the UK’s top Salsa bass players Elpidio is one of the busiest musicians around. He plays with a host of top bands including Roberto Pla’s Latin Jazz Ensemble, Alex Wilson, Omar Puente and Grupo Lokito. His glorious vocals can be heard on many a Salsa recording and he is an energetic and entertaining live performer. In recent years Elpidio has turned his hand to teaching, he leads Orquesta Estelar with Sara McGuinness and runs workshops and individual classes in bass, vocals and Latin music.
