Leading UK pianist and composer performing "The Mirror"; a suite commissioned for the Leasowes festival in 2009 and subsequently performed in London at The Greenwich festival and at Chateau Monteton in France, with her all-star quintet. Andrea Vicari was born in Miami, Florida, but educated at The Guildhall School of Music in London where she formed her first important group with Julian Arguelles and Stuart Hall on Bass. She has previously released four CDs in her own name ("Suburban Gorillas" "Lunar Spell", "Tryptych" and “Mango Tango") and worked with the cream of the UK jazz scene including Phil Bent, David Jean Baptiste, Don Weller, Dick Pearce, Mornington Lockett, Tim Whitehead, Tim Garland, The Vortex Foundation Big Band etc. plus US trumpet legend Art Farmer and US sax experimentalist Eddie Harris.

Mark Lockheart - tenor (Loose Tubes, Polar Bear, Mike Gibbs, Radio Head, June Tabor, Django Bates)
"Lockheart creates the most inviting musical landscapes alive with fresh bright combinations and harmonies" The Observer

Jonathan Bratoeff - guitar (Julian Siegel, Martin Speake, Soweto Kinch, Orphy Robinson, Ingrid Laubrock, Pete Wareham)
"Bratoëff's brittle phrasing and rhythmic energy put him up there with leading UK guitarists such as Mike Outram, Phil Robson and Mike Walker" The Guardian

Nic France - drums (Bill Withers, John Taylor, Gordon Beck, Pete Townsend, Thomas Dolby, Annie Lennox and Nigel Kennedy. Most famously he has also been working with David Gilmour (Pink Floyd))

Dorian Lockett - bass (Phil Bent, Alan Barnes, Dave O'Higgins, Phil Robson, Dick Pearce, Clare Hirst, Don Weller, Chris Tobin). Dorian plays on four of Andrea Vicari CD's which he also co-produced.

"Andrea Vicari's playing is a constant delight - intense, probing, and generating a seemingly endless succession of ideas" JazzUK

"a brilliant young British talent" Humphrey Lyttleton, BBC R2

"irresistibly catchy" The Observer

"one of the most brilliant young jazz musicians in the UK - an outstanding pianist and superbly fertile composer" Penguin Rough Guide to Jazz

"a sharp post-bop piano improviser and prolific composer - breathtakingly eclectic." The Guardian

"atmospheric and original" Time Out

Testimonials

Hideaway is a brilliant and inspiring addition to the UK live music scene. It is impossible to do a bad gig there. The artists and the punters are treated royally. The cocktails are the dog's [bananas] too. LOVE IT.
